How it works

How Does SodaSlim Work? What One Capsule Holds and What Is Proven

Quick answer

SodaSlim is a capsule supplement, and how it works is not proven. Each capsule lists 138 mg of caffeine, a stimulant, plus four lines of 130 mg each: green coffee, raspberry ketone, garcinia and green tea. No study has tested the finished product. Reviews of the plant lines show average weight differences of about 1 kg or less.

What it is01

What is Soda Slim, and what does it do?

Soda Slim, written on the bottle as SodaSlim, is a dietary supplement in a vegetable capsule. It is a capsule, not a drink. What it does is something the label can describe but no study has measured.

The front of the bottle says "Metabolic & Appetite Support" and lists three claim lines. Each ends in an asterisk that points to the FDA statement: the claims have not been evaluated. Those are the maker's words about support. They are not results.

The honest answer to "what does Soda Slim do" has two parts. It delivers caffeine, a stimulant. It also delivers four ingredients studied alone, with small and mixed results. What the five do together has not been tested.

The five lines02

How does SodaSlim work inside one capsule?

SodaSlim works the way any multi-ingredient capsule does: it releases each listed line when the shell dissolves. What those lines then do in a person is the open question.

One capsule carries 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous and 130 mg each of green tea extract, garcinia extract, green coffee bean extract and raspberry ketone. Each line below shows what the label prints, what it leaves out and how strong the evidence is.

Only caffeine has a well-known action. It can raise heart rate and blood pressure and disturb sleep (FDA, Spilling the beans: how much caffeine is too much) (MedlinePlus, Caffeine). The NIH says caffeine may help with a little weight loss, but tolerance builds (NIH ODS, Weight loss supplements (consumers)). A review of 94 studies found small rises in lab markers of fat metabolism, and it did not measure body weight (Meta-analysis, Does caffeine increase fat metabolism?).

The sales page goes further. It says caffeine "immediately awakens the metabolism" (SodaSlim sales page). No source we found shows that as an outcome in people.

Line by line03

What does each SodaSlim ingredient do, according to studies?

Each SodaSlim ingredient has been studied on its own, and the results are small. None of the studies used this product or this mix.

The FTC warns that research on an ingredient does not automatically carry over to a finished product, because dose and formula must match (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance). That applies to every row.

How strong is one SodaSlim capsule compared with safety guides?

One capsule is strong in caffeine and modest in the rest. The 138 mg of caffeine is 34.5% of the FDA's 400 mg a day guide for most healthy adults (FDA, Spilling the beans: how much caffeine is too much).

The bars set the label against figures that sources report. They are reference points, not doses that work. The green tea extract is 130 mg against 800 mg a day, the amount where liver enzymes rose in studies (MSK, Green tea (About Herbs)). The green coffee line is 130 mg against the 200 mg a day the NIH calls seemingly safe for 12 weeks (NIH ODS, Weight loss supplements (consumers)).

Brown bars: the daily amount on the SodaSlim label (one capsule a day). Lime bars: a reference amount that a source reports, set to full width: a limit or the level where a safety signal appeared. A reference amount says what was tested or flagged, not what works for you, and no study tested SodaSlim.

For garcinia and raspberry ketone we found no verified daily study dose, so we draw no bar for them. Your coffee and tea count too: see caffeine content.

In practice05

How do you take SodaSlim so it works as the label intends?

Take one capsule a day. That is the label's whole direction: "As a dietary supplement, take one (1) capsule daily."

The label prints no time of day, food rule or water amount. The seller's copy prefers the morning. Do not take more than the label says.

  1. 01

Check the seal and your medicines

On a new bottle, check that the safety seal is intact. Read the Supplement Facts. List any medicine you take for blood pressure, blood sugar, thyroid, mood or attention, and any other product with caffeine.

  2. 02

Count the caffeine you already have

One capsule lists 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous. The FDA's guide for most healthy adults is about 400 mg a day from every source. Add up your coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks first.

  3. 03

Take one capsule, once a day

That is the label's whole direction: take one (1) capsule daily. The label prints no time of day, no food rule and no water amount. The seller's copy prefers the morning. Do not take more than the label says.

  4. 04

Watch how you feel, and know when to stop

A bottle lasts 30 days. Note sleep, jitters and heartbeat. Stop and call your doctor for a racing heart, chest pain, yellow skin or eyes, or dark urine. Keep the meals, activity and medicines your clinician set.

If you take a prescribed medicine, keep taking it and ask a doctor or pharmacist before you start. Chest pain, fainting, a racing heart, dark urine or yellow skin or eyes need care now.

Where the proof stops

No source shows that SodaSlim speeds anything up. Mayo Clinic and the CDC describe a gradual pace of 1 to 2 pounds a week as the one more likely to last (Mayo Clinic, Weight loss: 6 strategies for success) (CDC, Steps for losing weight). More on the how to use page and claims versus evidence.

FAQ06

SodaSlim questions people ask

What does Soda Slim do in the body?

Its caffeine acts as a stimulant, which can raise heart rate and blood pressure (FDA, Spilling the beans: how much caffeine is too much). The other four lines have small or unclear effects in reviews. No study shows what the finished capsule does in the body.

Is SodaSlim a stimulant?

Yes, in part. One capsule lists 138 mg of caffeine anhydrous and the label says Contains Caffeine. The green tea and green coffee extracts can add a little more, and the label does not print that amount.

Who is behind the SodaSlim capsule?

The label names a distributor, Gex Corporation LLP of Ogden, Utah. It does not name the manufacturer or factory.

Does SodaSlim work without diet and exercise?

No source shows that it does. The FTC lists weight loss without diet or exercise as a warning sign in promises (FTC, Seven red flags for bogus weight-loss claims). Standard care is eating, activity and a provider's plan when needed.

Why does the label say Metabolic & Appetite Support?

It is a structure/function phrase. The FDA allows such wording if the maker holds substantiation and prints the disclaimer (FDA, Structure/function claim notification). The FDA has not evaluated it.

How many days does a SodaSlim bottle cover?

A bottle holds 30 capsules, so 30 days at one a day. The packs shown on this site hold 2, 3 or 6 bottles, which is 60, 90 or 180 days.
