What is garcinia cambogia extract, and what is HCA?
Garcinia cambogia is a tropical fruit. The SodaSlim label lists an extract of its fruit standardized to 50% HCA, short for hydroxycitric acid. HCA is the compound sellers name when they promote this extract as an HCA supplement.
The math is quick: 50% of 130 mg is about 65 mg of HCA per capsule. The line is 19.8% of the 658 mg listed. The label does not say what makes up the other half of the extract.
Unlike the caffeine and green tea lines, we found no daily study dose for garcinia that we could verify. The review we read did not give the HCA doses in its abstract (Onakpoya 2011, Garcinia (HCA) meta-analysis). So we draw no comparison bar and set no "safe" mark for this line.

Does garcinia cambogia help with weight loss?
Barely. A meta-analysis found HCA beat placebo by an average of 0.88 kg, and the authors called the effect small with uncertain clinical relevance (Onakpoya 2011, Garcinia (HCA) meta-analysis).
That review began with 23 eligible trials, included 12 and pooled 9. The range was wide, from 1.75 kg down to nearly zero (Onakpoya 2011, Garcinia (HCA) meta-analysis). The NIH's professional sheet says the result was not significant when only the two most rigorous trials were counted (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss (health professionals)). Its consumer sheet says garcinia has little to no effect (NIH ODS, Weight loss supplements (consumers)), and NCCIH says it is unclear whether the products help (NCCIH, Garcinia cambogia).

The sales page says garcinia blocks fat-making enzymes (SodaSlim sales page). We treat that as seller wording. The label front also says "Supports Craving Control & Satiety*", yet the NIH describes a trial in which appetite and fullness were unaffected (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss (health professionals)).

Is garcinia cambogia safe for your liver and medicines?
Not for everyone. NCCIH says garcinia may be unsafe, and that numerous reports link it to liver toxicity, several of them severe, though apparently uncommon (NCCIH, Garcinia cambogia).
The NIH's professional sheet counts at least 10 liver cases, including 1 death and 2 transplants, plus 3 cases of mania. Most of those products held other ingredients too, so the cause is hard to pin down (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss (health professionals)). NCCIH adds headache, nausea and diarrhea as side effects, and warns of possible interactions with drugs that affect the liver or serotonin (NCCIH, Garcinia cambogia).

Mood and serotonin
If you take a medicine that acts on serotonin, ask your pharmacist first (NCCIH, Garcinia cambogia).

Why does SodaSlim combine garcinia with green coffee bean extract?
The label does not say. Both are sold for weight management, so the seller groups them with caffeine, raspberry ketone and green tea extract. No study we found tested garcinia and green coffee together.
What the two share is thin evidence. Green coffee has three poor-quality trials behind it (Onakpoya 2011, Green coffee extract meta-analysis), and garcinia has a small average with doubts about its relevance (Onakpoya 2011, Garcinia (HCA) meta-analysis). Putting them in one capsule does not add up to proof. The FTC says research on single ingredients does not automatically support a finished mix (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).
